Only in social media/pseduo-journalism (Gawker itself, not you wonderful souls at Jalopnik) could these kind of persistent, consistent, and overwhelming technological difficulties be considered acceptable. It's insane. You'd think they'd try and get a platform right before tearing down and moving on to a new one, because I don't think they've gotten one even mostly right in about 3 versions.

In my line of work (not far removed from what we utilize here) if there is one bug that makes the system even partially unusable it is shelved immediately. Go back to the rev that worked properly and stay there until it's RCA'd and fixed.
This new form of "social debugging" just doesn't cut it in the production world.

Precisely. I don't deal with software and systems other than using them, but when my firm rolls out new systems for me to use as an end-user, they work; there are sometimes small teething issues, but they rarely persist. And they certainly don't start working on a whole new platform or start adding features before getting the current version right.
